Several unrelated things happening here today, so I apologize in advance for the random.

Second – I measured Henry for his PS of Sweden bridle last night. I was finally able to get in contact with them and they answered some questions for me, so I’m going to take the plunge and order one. It’s definitely different looking but I think it’s pretty and has the same general idea of a Micklem without being so ugly (IMO). I’m sure I’ll get lots of weird looks at shows but I’m okay with that. Hopefully it works for us. He measured pretty solidly in the middle of the cob size measurement range except for the upper part of the nose, where he was on the higher end. I was kind of hoping he’d measure as a full so the bridle would fit Sadie too, but I’m afraid it’d be too big for Henry. Cob it is.

Interesting to note: The prices on the PS of Sweden website include the 25% VAT that Euro buyers have to pay. Of course, I am not a Euro buyer so the bridle is actually only $267 for me. That makes it pretty reasonably priced considering it comes with reins. They are backordered until mid-month for the model I want and then it has to ship from Sweden so it could be a while until it arrives. Fingers crossed that it fits and we both like it! Total leap of faith here but I can’t get it out of my head so I’ve gotta give it a shot.

Third – As I’ve been going through my excess stuff lately I realized that I have several things just sitting around that I’d like to sell. Would anyone be interested in a “tack sale/tack swap” type of thing? Maybe in a blog hop style format or something? Open to suggestions. The idea just occurred to me the other day when I listed a couple things on a fb sale group and I figured I’d see if anyone else had any interest.

And for a little bit of Friday fun… since everyone enjoyed Henry’s tongue antics so much yesterday, I thought I’d make a video of a typical day with him and his weirdo tongue. This is what it’s like pretty much all the time, although the more bored he is the more he plays with his tongue. Last night he was pretty bored after all the measuring. 😉 Now you can probably see why I have more pictures of him making faces than I do of him standing there being normal.

  1. I’d do a tack sale/swap. I have a few more things I need to get rid of.

    Did Henry go well enough in the Micklem that this one is worth trying? I’d never heard of that bridle before you posted about it but it looks nicely made. I’ll be interested to hear your reviewed. 🙂

    1. I liked him a little better jumping in the micklem than his regular bridle, but I did not like it on the flat. So for almost $200 on a bridle I thought was ugly that I only liked a little better o/f, I just wasn’t sold. But I like the look of this one WAY more, so even if it’s only his jumping bridle I’m ok with that. Pretty matters.

      1. I completely understand. I’ve always been a tack snob. I like the idea of the micklem bridles (several people at my barn have them), but I agree, they aren’t pretty whatsoever and also aren’t cheap. I would totally try that bridle in your shoes, even if it does just end up being for jumping. Sounds extremely logical to me.

        As for ideas on how to do the tack swap, that’s a very good question. I don’t fully understand what a blog hop even is, so I’m not help there. I guess making a facebook tack swap page and inviting people works, or maybe just having a blog post dedicated to tack sales, or maybe even a blog?

        Sorry, I’m not too much help there.

  2. Whoa! The rolled leather is a great idea on that bridle! I wonder how they’re getting around the Micklem’s proprietary hold? Probably why they aren’t sold here …

  3. I’d do a tack sale/swap. I have a ton of crap I’d like to sell or trade. Like, A TON. It’s kind of dumb that none of it gets used when it’s all in good condition and pretty good to high quality!

    And Henry’s faces. Oh my. So cute. But also it makes me wonder if he had his tongue tied in his previous life? Not that there’s anything to do about, just a curiosity.

    1. I’d be amazed if no one ever tied that thing down lol. Even his breeder talked about his tongue obsession when I called her. Apparently that’s always been his thing. That and eating.

      1. You could do it in typical blog hop style. Or you could have people email you what they have for sale, their email address, etc., accumulate everything in the list, and then basically make a ‘for sale/swap’ catalog to send to everyone. Wouldn’t be as blog-visible, but you could have other’s advertise it on their blogs if they wanted to get more people involved. TBH I think a simple blog hop would be the best/fastest/easiest way.

  5. I would totally be up (down? up?) for a tack swap, I think that’s a great idea! I wonder if you mimicked the blog hop format, it might be the best logistically….? Who knows haha.

    Also, I think that bridle is sooooo pretty! And of course, who doesn’t love Henry’s tongue?

    Not to be a stalker, but I feel like if I still lived in Austin, we would probably be friends. Just saying 🙂

    1. I’ve heard really good reviews from those who have them/have seen them, although granted its a pretty small sampling. Fingers crossed! How come all the awesome stuff is in Europe?

  15. Henry is awesome! Love a horse with personality. I told the fiancé that I would like to try one of those bridles on some of the race horses. He’s looking it up now 🙂

  19. I have been really wanting one of those bridles…I think they look way more adjustable than the micklems for different head shapes. Yay a tack swap, I have things that need to go!
